World War 2 stirrup pump
World War 2 stirrup pump

World War 2 stirrup pump with wooden handle, integral foot rest and coiled hose with brass on/off nozzle. The main pump is made of brass, with a filter on the end, and the foot rest of steel which has rusted. The hose, which has signs of wear, is held by a webbing strap with metal fastener. The pump was an Air Raid Precautions household fire extinguisher and was operated by inserting the end of the pump housing in a bucket of water. The pump was double action, with a constant flow of water with the up and down stroke.
