Nowshera is now in Pakistan and was a large British Army base used for troops based on the North-West Frontier of India. 1st Seaforths were involved in the Zakha Khel Expedition in 1908 against Afridi tribesmen on the Indian-Afghan border.

I was very interested to see this photograph. My mum has a very similar print by the same photographer, which we thought was of a soldier in the Gordon Highlanders as it belonged to my grandfather. However, it could well be the Seaforths now I have seen this print. I can scan the print my mum has and e-mail it through if this is of use to your website.

Many thanks for your comment. We are always pleased to have new images donated to the Museum and it may be that someone looking on the image library can identify the soldier in your Grandfather's photo, so do please email through a scanned copy. With thanks, Administrator.

Thank you, I now have another two photographs I would like to e-mail through, one of a group of soldiers, who again I think may belong to the Seaforth rather than the Gordon Highlanders, and another of a single figure (possibly an officer?) wearing a plaid. I would be very grateful for anyone who can throw any light on this. Could you please provide me with your e-mail address and let me know how I can go about creating an album which could be viewed publicly?

With many thanks and kind regards

Rhona
