Amenity Week Parade
Amenity Week Parade

Monochrome photograph of amenity week parade on Castle Street outside the Eagle Hotel
Picture added on 05 December 2008
Are you sure about the date here as that looks very like Dan Kennedy on the left if so the photo has to be later. (We have another photo with this one (2008.049.02) which is also labelled amenity week and dated 1937 - but it is possible they are not from the same occasion. Administrator)

I think I agree with Dan. Rory MacKaskill is just in front of man with bonnet in front of the Eagle, could be a Fraser in front of him. Looks like Donnie Bain at rear of train. Ask Jimmy Melville, he worked at the station but maybe after this.

The other clue to the date is the fact that the "engine" has British Railways on the front that company did not exist until the amalgamation of the big four companies in 1948.
(I am sure that both you and Mr Leslie are right and this photo is of a later date. Thank you very much for your comments and I have amended the date to 1948 here and on the Museum catalogue - Administrator)
