Forge in St Gilbert Street garage, Dornoch

Colour photograph of the forge in the garage in St Gilbert's Street. The firm of G. A. MacKenzie was started by George Allen Mackenzie as a blacksmiths, motor and agricultural engineers in St Gilbert Street and then taken over by his son Russell Mackenzie. The shoeing of horses had all but died out by the time Russell took over in about 1974 but it retained its ability to carry out a wide range of repair and fabrication work.
