Embo Pier
Embo Pier

Monochrome photograph of a large group of people gathered on Embo pier, all well dressed, possibly going on an outing. From an album of postcards and photographs taken by Mrs J.I.C. Mackay of Dornoch and its surrounding area.
Picture added on 13 October 2008
From a few familiar looking people on the pier I would guess that this photo was taken in the 1950s and not 1930. This is supported by the style of the clothing being worn by these people.. especially the two girls wearing the striped balloon dresses.
Thank you for your comment, and indeed the many others which have enriched the website so much, I have amended the date accordingly - Administrator

I would suggest that this photograph is more likely to be early sixties when John Macintosh had a speed boat and introduced many people to water sking from Embo pier and the pontoon below the pier is where he docked

I would agree with Dan Murrays' comment. The speedboat and water sking used to draw great crowds on a Sunday afternoon although some were entirely against it on religious grounds.
