A pity about the 1941 fire - but the buildings that replaced it in recent years, despite protests from some incomers, fit in pretty well, don't they?

Good to see this photo of the Sutherland Arms Hotel where my paternal grandfather, John (Jock) Mackenzie was chauffeur. Sadly he was fatally injured in 1939, aged 45, when the jack on the hotel car slipped when he was working underneath it.

Have just caught up with this website... couldn't agree more, Willie, re the replacement buildings in the Dornoch square. I had been concerned but I think that it Is definitely an improvement

Replacement buildings fit in really well.Jock Mackenzie's wife,Jeannie,was my mother's first cousin.I remember being to her house in Bishopfield in 1947.
