Comments:
This is a brilliant picture. It must have been a difficult place in which to berth, with the tidal flows in and out of the loch. My great-great grandfather may have left from this spot when he emigrated to Australia, later travelling on to New Zealand in 1851. I do not know for certain, but to get from Rosehall estate down to London, it is most likely he travelled down the east coast on different vessels. I look at this picture and wonder whether my GGgrandfather stepped off that pier - his departure was 53 years before this photograph was taken, but one never knows!
