Furness Postcard Collection - Spinningdale Mill

Colour postcard from the Furness Collection showing Spinningdale mill, surrounded by trees, on the banks of the Dornoch Firth
Picture added on 24 April 2008
Comments:
This was not actually a spinning mill, but a mill producing wooden pirns made from oak, for the spinning mills in Lanark. Spinningdale existed long before the mill and the name is believed to be Norse. It is thought the mill burnt down when sawdust caught fire and it was never rebuilt.
