Dornoch Golf Club ~ 1880s

Monochrome photograph of a large group of golfers, including some boys, in front of the original clubhouse in the late 1880's; the clubhouse has a corrugated iron roof and the golfers have single clubs, sets of loose clubs and some golf bags. This clubhouse became the professional shop in 1909 and was demolished in 1973. (see also 2001.253)

Comments:
I think John Sutherland (Royal Dornoch Golf Club secretary 1883-1941) is in this photo, in centre, standing, wearing a flat cap, handkerchief in coat pocket, holding a book with his left hand.

Also I think Arthur Ryle (club captain) is just behind him wearing a light coloured coat.
