Bannockburn Challenge Shield badge - Robert Mackay 1883

Embroidered raised badge in the shape of an oval with crown above and surrounded by thistles, on a backing of dark blue felt, hessian or similar, and paper. The oval has a border of blue satin with the words BANNOCKBURN CHALLENGE SHIELD. Inside the oval is a triangular shield worked in metal thread on a red felt background with the date 1883. The outer shield borders, thistles, crown and wording are also worked in metal thread. The thistle flowers are tipped with red thread and the inside of the crown is dark red velvet.
