A white envelope addressed to Mr Taylor, Dornoch bearing a red one penny Queen Victoria postage stamp which is franked 167. The rear flap is sealed with black sealing wax embosed with a coat of arms. The rear of the envelope has a yellowish boxed stamp, over tears in the flap, 'Golspie Rec:Office' with a further stamp mark 'Golspie Aug 26 1858' to its right and a similar stamp mark 'Dornoch Aug 26 1858' at lower left.
