A Highland Causerie - Willie Skinner
A Highland Causerie - Willie Skinner

Copy of a newspaper article with heading 'A Highland Causerie' highlighting "The success that never fails to attend Dornoch Highland Gathering derives from the infectious enthusiasm of the secretary Mr William Skinner, town clear of the royal and ancient burgh". The article proceeds to provide the history of the Dornoch Highland Gathering and the career of William Skinner. After leaving Dornoch Academy William's early years in the town clerk's officer were interrupted by his service in the First World War. Returning to the Town Clerk's Offic his responsibilities and reputation grew and he was the obvious and unanimous choice when the Town Clerkship became vacant in 1941. He was also secretary to the Library Committee and Factor for the Torrish Estate.
