General view of The Mound sluice gatesThe sluice gates at The Mound viewed from the south. The eight gates, at water level, where raised by chain and pulley wheel system (see 2011_086_05) connected to a winch. The sluice gate system is thought to have been installed in 1834 to a design by Thomas Telford.
